How to make your first small bitcoin purchase on Bybit EU
A practical beginner example — from creating an account to making your first small purchase.
In Book 1, Alex makes his first small bitcoin purchase. The book keeps the process general so the explanation can remain useful over time. Here, we follow one specific practical example as it works on Bybit EU today.
Bybit EU is not presented as the “best” or only option. It is one example of a European platform that helps us understand the basic steps. Buttons, payment methods, limits, and fees may change.
What you will do
Follow the path from account access to seeing bitcoin in your balance.
- Create or access a Bybit EU account.
- Complete identity verification (KYC).
- Choose a euro payment method.
- Open Buy Crypto / One-Click Buy.
- Review the amount, rate, fees, and final BTC.
- Find the BTC and understand custody on the platform.
What you need before starting
- An age and country of residence covered by Bybit EU’s current terms.
- A personal email and strong, unique password.
- A phone or two-factor authentication (2FA) app.
- A valid identity document and, if requested, proof of address.
- A card or bank account in your name, depending on available options.
- A few quiet minutes, without following a stranger’s instructions by call or message.

Create or access your account
To create a new account, you can use the referral link below, which leads to the official Bybit EU domain (bybit.eu). Before entering personal details or a password, always check that you are on bybit.eu. Use accurate personal information, a unique password, and enable 2FA as soon as registration is complete.

What you’ll see during registration
After opening the registration page, the process is usually short. Exact buttons may change, but the basic flow remains similar.
- Choose whether to sign up with email or mobile.
- Create a strong, unique password.
- Confirm your country or region where required.
- Complete the security check, such as reCAPTCHA, if shown.
- Enter the verification code sent to your email or mobile.
- Once the account is created, the next key step is identity verification (KYC).
Complete identity verification (KYC)
Bybit EU may show different verification methods, such as Quick Verification, Bank Verification, or Video Verification. The available option and the exact steps may vary depending on your account and country.
- Choose the verification method shown to you that fits your situation.
- For Quick Verification, prepare a valid identity document and follow the instructions to photograph or verify the document.
- For Bank Verification, identity verification and a bank transfer may be required.
- For Video Verification, identity is verified through a video call with a compliance officer.
- Check your details carefully and wait for confirmation before moving on to the purchase.
Add EUR or choose a payment method
After KYC, you can either add euros to Bybit EU first and use your available EUR balance, or choose an available payment method when making the purchase. The options shown may vary depending on your country, account, and service availability.
Bank transfer / Fiat deposit
Choose EUR, enter the amount, and review the details of the available bank method before continuing.
Card or another available method
Card, PayPal, or other options may appear. Always review any displayed fee and processing time.
EUR balance
If you have already deposited euros, you can use the available EUR balance without making a new deposit at that moment.
Open Buy Crypto / One-Click Buy
From the top menu on Bybit EU, open Buy Crypto and select One-Click Buy. This is where the simple fiat-to-crypto purchase flow begins. On the next screen, you will choose the fiat currency you are paying with, the crypto you want to receive, the amount, and an available payment method.
Select EUR → BTC and enter a small amount
In the Spend field, choose EUR and in Receive select BTC. Then enter a small amount for your test purchase and check how much BTC is shown as the amount you will receive. The available payment method may vary depending on your account and country.

Review the rate, fees, and final BTC
Before confirming, make sure you can see all of the following:
- Total EUR to be charged.
- Payment method.
- Displayed EUR/BTC rate.
- Every disclosed fee or spread.
- Final or estimated BTC you will receive.
- Any quote time limit.
Confirm the purchase
Only after reviewing every detail should you confirm. Depending on the payment method, an additional approval or confirmation step may be required. Wait for a clear success or failure message. If the quote expires, review the new BTC and fees. Do not repeat the order in a hurry if you are unsure whether the first completed.
Where the BTC appears
Open the Funding Account and select the Crypto tab. BTC will appear there as a separate asset together with the available balance and related actions. In the screenshot, the amounts are hidden using Bybit EU’s built-in privacy feature.
BTC on the platform is not yet self-custody
While bitcoin remains in your account, the platform manages the private keys. Self-custody means moving it to a personal wallet whose keys or seed phrase only you control. That is a separate step requiring preparation. Never withdraw to an address you have not checked.
You bought sats — a small fraction of bitcoin
One bitcoin is divided into 100,000,000 satoshis, or sats. You do not need one whole BTC. Example only: 0.0002 BTC equals 20,000 sats. This explains unit conversion, not what a specific EUR amount will buy.
