In Simple Words
When someone wants to send you bitcoin, you can show them a receiving address from your wallet, often as text or a QR code. It tells the sender where to pay; it is not a password for your wallet.
Knowing a Bitcoin address alone does not let someone spend your bitcoin. Sharing it can still reveal information about your transactions, so avoid reusing the same receiving address unnecessarily.
A recovery phrase is something else: commonly 12 or 24 words that can restore the keys in a compatible wallet. Someone with the words and any additional recovery information required may be able to take control of the bitcoin.
Never give your recovery words to friends, people claiming to be support, or websites. Do not photograph them or store them in chats or cloud notes.
Use the receiving address shown in your own wallet when you want to receive bitcoin. When sending, carefully check the recipient’s address. In simple words: share your receiving address when needed, but keep your recovery phrase secret.
